Effective fall 2011, adidas will enter the US Outdoor market with a newly developed range of footwear, apparel and accessories, including the TERREX concept, which debuted in Europe in 2009 to great reviews.The collection will be available in the US at selected Outdoor specialty retailers and in adidas own Sport Performance stores starting fall 2011. Long-time adidas partner Agron Inc. will be the official and exclusive distributor for adidas outdoor products in the US. Retail partners in the US will be able to preview the adidas Outdoor Fall/Winter 2011 collections at the January 2011 Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City, Utah.“Adidas is the athletic brand in the outdoors with a unique heritage dating back to the 70s when we equipped outdoor legends such as Reinhold Messner with cutting-edge technologies. Adidas Outdoor has teamed up with climbing legends Reinhold Messner and the Huber Brothers, to work with them on product development. Adidas is serious about carving a chunk of the outdoor recreation market for itself, judging from the broad expanse of shoes, jackets, parkas, and pants it introduced Thursday at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City.
Adidas footwear line coming to market in the fallAdidas is bringing nearly 60 shoe styles for adults and children to the U.S. market this fall.The company has been a household name in athletic shoes and apparel for decades, but until now it's been mostly absent from the U.S. outdoor recreation field dominated by sturdy boots, pricey technical jackets, and puffy down parkas.Materials from Gore-Tex, PolarTec, and PrimaLoft appear up and down the new product line, which was introduced in Europe two years ago and will appear in the U.S. market this fall.The line is divided into two main segments: Terrex, designed to be light and fast; and Super Trekking, built for more traditional hiking and backpacking.Footwear include hiking boots, winter boots, approach shoes, water shoes, and several children's models.Apparel includes base layers, hard shells, puffy jackets (down and synthetic), and soft shell jackets, tops, and pants. 【いよいよ】
outdoor retailer show 2011で発表されたADIDAS outdoorなんですが
2009年からEUマーケットで展開していたシリーズをUSマーケットに本格投入のようです
サロモンを売却した後アウトドアの立て直しをはかっていたのですがうまくいっているようですね
そもそもアディダスがアウトドアに参入したのが1978年。
ラインホルト=メスナーのエベレストの無酸素登頂にサポートしたことにはじまるそうです
今現在も続くそのサポート体制が素晴らしいですね
(途中フェニックスでウェアのライセンスで別のもの作ってのはなんだったのかな?)
実際メスナーさんってアルピニストのなかでは
登頂失敗も多くメディアが騒ぐほどの評価はされていないそうですけど
メディアの使い方やスポンサーのお金を引き出すのもうまかったみたいなので
やっかみ的なこともあるんでしょうかね(笑
さていよいよ最大のマーケットであるUSマーケットに展開をはじまるわけですが
以前のアドベンチャーシリーズも失敗してしてしまったのでサロモンを買収したわけですし
今回こそうまくいくかな〜と(テーラーメイド欲しさともいわれていますが)
さてモデルのバリエーションは焼き回しモデルが多いようですがそれだけ自信があるのでしょうね
今後の動きが楽しみです☆
